AAU Volleyball's Kathryn Plummer Wins Player of the Year

Minneapolis, Minn. (December 15, 2018) – The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) announced longtime AAU volleyball alum Kathryn Plummer was selected as the 2018 TeamSnap/AVCA Division I Player of the Year. The 6'6" Stanford Junior Outside Hitter was presented the award at the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) award banquet held in conjunction with the NCAA Division I Final Four in Minneapolis, Minn on Friday, December 14, 2018.

It is the second consecutive year that Plummer takes home the honor and fourth time in the history of the award a player has won back-to-back player of the year awards.

Hailing from Aliso Viejo, California, Plummer is also a member of the Stanford Beach Volleyball team. The 2015 AAU Beach Player of the Year got her beach volleyball start with the AAU's Los Angeles International Children's Games club. In 2013, she was part of the gold medal winning indoor volleyball squad at the 2013 International Children's Games in Canada.

"She is an amazing talent," said Gino Grajeda, former LAICG coach and current AAU volleyball executive committee member. "But, like all great players, she isn't complacent with just her talent alone and puts in the extra effort, goes the extra mile to improve in every part of her game."

Plummer leads an AVCA All-American class teaming with AAU alumni. 34 out 0f 42 (80%) of First-Team, Second-Team and Third-Team honorees are AAU alumni with 100% of the First- Team having played AAU.

AAU Track & Field Seminar held in Nassau, Bahamas Dec 8th, 2018

This seminar was conducted by the AAU Sports Manager Reggie Williams and AAU International Committee Members Monica Snead and Joan Labadie. The purpose was to introduce the Bahamas Association of Certified Officials (BACO) to AAU.

The seminar was addressed to IAAF Certified Officials that wanted to be able to officiate AAU Track & Field meets. During the Seminar the BACO was orientated to the History, Policy and Procedures, Sports Operations and AAU Track & Field Rule book. Officiating opportunities was discussed as well as the application process. At the conclusion of the Seminar they were 30 Officials who registered to be AAU Track & Field members. We would like to Thank President Hepburn and His wife Patricia along with the whole BACO members for their hospitality.
