Beyond the Court: Sharice Green
Sharice Green has been working with Jam On It, one of the largest Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) clubs and event operators, for the last 12 years and has been running the Jam On It Girls' Academy for the last seven years. From participating herself in the Jam On It program to becoming an executive, Green has helped the academy maintain its mission to build a child's positive self-worth and promote a sense of accomplishment by engaging children in fun, competitive play. AAU Cares
This past weekend, the Lake Erie AAU District and the Northeast Ohio Gymnastics League hosted an AAU Cares event providing supplies for Cleveland urban youth summer activities, with the goal of eliminating the education achievement gap.
Athletes donated Canned Fruit, Juices/Bottled Water, Toilet Paper, Tissues, Sunscreen, toiletries, and Art Supplies.

Southern Pacific AAU National Qualifiers
More than 400 competitors competed at last weekend's AAU Taekwondo National Qualifier held at Cal State University, Northridge, California on May 4th, 2019. This event is a qualifier for the 2019 AAU Taekwondo National Championships in Fort Lauderdale, Florida June 30 - July 6 (click here for more info). Disciplines included Taekwondo Olympic Sparring, Grassroot Sparring, Competition Poomsae, Traditional Poomsae, Weapon and Board Breaking.
Numerous athletes also competed to receive USA Taekwondo ranking points to qualify for this year's Pan-Am games. While many elite level USAT current and past team members attended, this year's AAU national qualifier had a great number of color belts and more grassroots novice athletes; a great atmosphere to introduce them to the sport of Taekwondo.
Modern Day Knights, part of the American Martial Arts Academy had 50 athletes compete among them 15 elite athletes - past USAT Team members, Pan-Am Champion, and AAU National Team members with the majority of competitors focused on experiencing an exciting, fun, and enjoyable tournament for newer members to the sport.
Congratulations to all who participated and good luck to those who qualified for nationals.
