AAU TAEKWONDO ATHLETES SHINE IN TAIPEI CITY, CHINESE TAIPEI

The International Governing Body for the Olympic Sport of Taekwondo only chose six (6) U.S. athletes to represent the United States and two (2) of those superior athletes are current AAU members Ms. Michelle Gonciarz and Ms. Kendall Yount. Athletes, Kendall Yount, Michelle Gonciarz, Connor Wilson, Jonathan Healy, and Brandon Ivey competed in the 2014 Nanjing Youth Olympic Games Qualifying Event (March 20th-21st) as well the World Junior Championship (March 23rd-26th).

The United States also sent twenty (20) competitors to the World Junior Championships and four (4) of the participants are current National AAU Taekwondo Junior Team members; Kendall Yount, Connor Wilson, Jonathan Healy and Brandon Ivey represented the United States and AAU extremely well.

Kendall Yount took silver at the 2014 Nanjing Youth Olympic Games Qualifying Event and has earned a bid to the Youth Olympic Games. The World Junior Championship also ended with AAU members on the medal stand. Brandon Ivey took home the gold while Jonathan Healy was awarded the bronze medal. Connor Wilson advanced to the quarterfinals but just narrowly missed the medal stand.

Congratulations to all of these hard-working and dedicated athletes. The competitors have not only represented our country, but also our schools and the AAU extremely well.

We know that all of these great athletes will continue to do great things in the future.

AAU BASEBALL ON THE MOVE


AAU Baseball is very pleased to announce the appointment of several new district directors over the past few weeks.

Matt Walker has been appointed DSD in the Colorado district. Having played high school and college baseball, Matt is now a high school coach in his area. AAU TACKLE FOOTBALL PRE-SEASON NATIONAL KICK-OFF
AAU Tackle Football is happy to announce another AAU Pre-Season National Kick-off! This new event will be taking place from August 21st – 24th, 2014 in Henrico County, VA.

Book check will be on August 21st and competition will be from August 22nd – 24th. Participation is available for 8U, 10U, 12U, and 14U divisions. Ages are determined as of August 1st, 2014.

INDIANA STATE & MIDWEST CHEERLEADING CHAMPIONSHIP

The Indiana State & Midwest Cheerleading Championship will take place in Vincennes, IN this coming weekend, April 5, 2014. E-Z Gymnastic & Tumbling Center will play host to the event at Rivet High School. Be sure to catch the action as squads participate in team, jump, tumbling, stunt, solo, and pom squad events!

This event is leading up to the 2014 Cheerleading National Championship that will take place July 30-31, 2014 as part of the AAU Junior Olympic Games in Des Moines, IA.

AAU TRAMPOLINE AND TUMBLING REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN

Registration for the Trampoline and Tumbling competition at the 2014 AAU Junior Olympic Games is now open! Secure your spot in the competition as one of the athletes from around the United States flipping your way to the podium. Tumbling, Trampoline, Double-Mini, and Synchro-Trampoline events will take place over four days of competition July 24-27, 2014 (Check-In and Practice will take place on July 23, 2014)

PLAY IN EUROPE AT THE GLOBAL CHALLENGE

AAU Volleyball is excited to announce the opportunity to play in Europe at the 2014 European Global Challenge in Pula, Croatia. For the second year, a team will be formed to compete in the international event. The 2014 trip will begin in Nice, France with training and matches in both France and Italy before the competition in Croatia.
Augusta Sportswear will be the official outfitter of the 17U team. Augusta will be setting up a blog on their website for players to post photos to keep those at home updated on the trip.

Debbie Green, 2-time Olympic setter, will again be joining the team in a mentor role for both players and coaches. In addition to being in the Volleyball Hall of Fame and the AVCA Coaching Hall of Fame, Debbie has also coached 3-time Olympian Misty May.

Athletes may submit an application form. In addition, an evaluation will also take place at the JVA/AAU World Challenge in Houston, TX on April 4-6.

FORMER AAU ALUMNI SHOW OVERWHELMING PRESENCE IN NCAA WOMEN'S ELITE 8

For those of you following NCAA Women's Elite Eight, you may be seeing quite a few familiar names and faces from AAU rosters over the years. Out of the 108 total participants from all eight teams, 98 are former AAU Members. AAU Accounts for a whopping 91% of the athletes competing.*3 of the participants were from another country. Below is a breakdown by team.

BRING YOUR A+ GAME TO THESE TOURNAMENTS

The first tournament the Fairfield Ballers will host is the Summer Blast #12. This event will feature High School Boys' and Girls' teams from 9/U through Varsity. This event will take place on May 31st and June 1st in Fairfield, California. The entry fee is $275 per team, due by May 24th. Individual trophies will be given to first place teams for all divisions and 2nd place medals will be given in divisions with six or more teams. High school rules will apply and there will be certified referees at every game.

The second event is the Bring Your A+ Game #15 will be on June 21st and 22nd in Fairfield! This event will be hosted by the Fairfield Ballers and is open to all high school boys' and girls' teams. The entry fee for this event is $275 per team, which is due by June 14th. High school rules will apply to this event and certified referees will be available in every game.

First place individual trophies will be awarded in all divisions and second place medals will be given to those divisions with six or more teams.

JUMP YOUR WAY TO DES MOINES

The 2014 AAU Florida Double Dutch and Jump Rope Open Qualifying Tournament could be YOUR ticket to the 2014 AAU Junior Olympic Games in Des Moines, Iowa! This one day tournament will be on May 17th in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and will include friendly and serious jump roping.

The competition will start at 8AM sharp and last all the way until 4PM. The entry fee is $40 per athlete and spectators can relax and enjoy some great jump roping competition for free! Nova Southeastern University Arena RecPlex will be the home of this tournament there will be one judge provided for every 4 athletes entered.

CHECK OUT THIS AAU TAEKWONDO NATIONAL QUALIFIER

The 2014 AAU Region 2 Taekwondo Championship will be Saturday, April 12th in Arnold, Maryland. This one day event will take over Anne Arundel Community College with events including Olympic Sparring, Forms competition, and Point Sparring.

The entry fee is $65 for one or two events or $75 for three events if the entry is received before April 4th, Any entries received between April 5th and 10th will be subject to a $20 late fee per application. Keep in mind, NO "day-of" registrations will be accepted, so get your entries in soon!

Coaches passes will be $20 but for every three athletes registered, a free coaches pass will be given to their coach. The spectator fee will be $5 per person, with children 5 and under being free. The event will kick off on Saturday morning at 9:30AM with an Officials' Meeting. At 10AM the Olympic sparring competition will begin, followed by the Forms competition at 12:30PM. At 2PM, point sparring will conclude the afternoon and the event. Athletes should arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of competition.

Championship medals will be awarded to the top 4 places in each division.

10TH ANNUAL AIR IT OUT SUPER CHALLENGE IS BACK


On April 19th, the 10th Annual "Air it Out Super Challenge" will be in Lodi and Galt, California. Boys' teams from the 3rd grade through Varsity are welcome to attend this one day event. The entry fee is $200 per team for three games of play. The entry deadline is Friday, April 19th and the format will include pool play and bracket play. Medals will be awarded to the first, second and third place winners, depending on bracket size.
