The 55th edition of the AAU Junior Olympic Games is coming to Houston, Texas from July 31 through August 7 and "there's nothing junior about it."

At the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, more than 50 members of the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Team are AAU alumni with most having competed at past AAU Junior Olympic Games.

The sport of track & field has always been an integral part of the AAU Junior Olympic Games. It -- along with swimming -- comprised the two sports at the inaugural AAU Junior Olympic Games back in 1967. Over the years, this meet has grown significantly, becoming the largest track and field event held in the world annually. 

Through regional, district, and national qualifiers, the 55th AAU Junior Olympic Games will see approximately 12,345 participants compete for a chance at an gold medal.

As always, the AAU has worked diligently to put together the best meet possible for all athletes, coaches, family, and friends. Approximately, 230 license officials have been brought on for the event. The timing group is the same team that timed the U. S. Olympic Trials as well as the NCAA Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon in the past.

The AAU Junior Olympic Games is an event where personal records are set and national records are broken. Whether competing this year or next, all athletes have trained hard to earn a chance to compete against the best track and field athletes in the country.
